YEAR-END POINTS AND AWARD ELIGIBILITY
REQUIREMENTS

ALL DVHA DIVISIONS

1. To accumulate points toward DVHA year-end awards, all horses/ponies (owned or leased by the DVHA member) must be registered annually. The lifetime nomination fee for all horses/ponies is $15.00 (see DVHA Constitution, Membership A.1.a.(4).

2. Year-end points will accumulate upon acceptance of a member’s registration and/or horse registration by the Membership Secretary OR the Show Secretary of the day. If the membership or horse application is presented on the day of a show, it must be accepted before the member enters any classes for the day. Points will not count on the day of the show if the membership or horse registration is accepted at the end of the show day after the rider has competed in any classes.

3. In equitation or horsemanship classes (Hunter/Western), points are awarded to the rider. The rider must be a DVHA member in good standing and the horse must be registered. The rider in an equitation or horsemanship class must be an amateur unless specified in class specs.

4. In performance classes (Hunter/Western/Jumper), points are awarded to the horse. The rider must be a DVHA member in good standing and the horse must be registered.

5. In dressage classes, points are awarded to the horse/rider combination. The rider must be a DVHA member in good standing and the horse must be registered.

6. Trophies will be given for year-end championship and reserve championship awards. Year-end trophies will be presented only if a division has filled two times during the season.

7. Year-end ribbons will be given for championship, reserve championship, third, fourth, fifth and sixth places. In case of ties, the next lower award or awards will not be made.

8.  For champion and reserve champion ONLY, if a rider/horse did not compete in at least two shows during the season, the winner will only receive a ribbon.
